Medical Aesthetician

Where are you from?

When I’m in a cheeky mood, I say Coaldale. That is where I live, but I know by the puzzled look on their faces, they were wanting to know where my accent’s from; and that’s South Africa.  I moved here when I was 21, now not to give my age away, but its safe to say, I’ve lived in Canada for longer than I did in South Africa, I just cant get rid of the thick South African accent.

Why did you choose Aesthetics?

I’ve always been passionate about skincare as I struggled with my own skin, from young teenage acne to lovely adult acne, I never knew when to use pimple cream or wrinkle cream!  Then to top it off I developed melasma in my 20’s so I’ve always felt self conscious about my own skin.  I love nothing more than to help people with their insecurities.  I have been in this business for over 15 years. My most memorable compliment was from a young boy; whom after his Mom introduced me to him at the mall, said ‘I like having my mom swim with me now’.

What are your greatest achievements?

Where do I start! My passion is my children, I was fortunate to be blessed with an incredible stepson, who now has two wonderful children of his own; they call me Gran-Gran (no you may not!) I also have two of my own children, a son and a daughter who fill me with so much joy I think I may burst!  Other achievements: I once climbed the Himalaya’s, jumped out of a perfectly good aeroplane, ran a marathon, moved to Canada, started my own business, learned to ride a horse and most recently beat Cancer.

What are you most passionate about professionally and personally?

Relationships; I know that’s not always easy, but I strive to work harder at all relationships.  I just love building a relationship with my clients, I feel like the better I get to know them, the more I can understand their needs and my role in helping them achieve them.  My family is also so important to me, I strive to support them in their personal journeys and making lasting traditions and memories, and lastly my friends, for who better to get into trouble with, laugh with and cry, than your friends.
