Marisa Baines, RN

Nurse Injector

What are you complimented most on in your work?

I think people would say I care.

I care about your point of veiw. I care about your budget. I care about the result we are trying to acheive.

I am big on customer service, and I dont want to mislead you in anyway.

Who is your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who will always be truthful with me. If you did not like the procedure, I want you to talk to me. Unsure of the results you are seeing? Talk to me. At times speaking the truth in this line of work is hard. It can be easier to jump to the next provider just to spare an awkward moment. But I promise I am here to listen and imporve my skill set. In my experience the magic happens when we learn how to communicate and have while we do it.

How long have you been working in your field?

I completed my Bachelors of Nursing at the University of Lethbridge (2008). After graduating from Nursing I worked as a Public Health Nurse casually for 10 years and loved cuddling all the new babies (this is probably why I ended up having 5 of my own)! In 2018 I completed the PTIFA training in Vancouver to become a Nurse Injector.

What are you most passionate about both professionally?

Professionally, I am most passionate about health promotion. I think that is why I was drawn to public health. Now, I enjoy talking about the little things we can do to make us feel and look our best. It has always made more sense to me to find the source of the issue and change what is necessary. If we can create environments and habits that promote health we can enjoy the sunshine longer!

What are your goals?

I stopped making goals awhile back because I rarely completed them! But with that said my goal overall is to "show up". If I can show up consistently then I shouldn't have any regrets. Having no regrets is more important to me than setting goals. A lofty goal I have is to eat all of my favourite foods from their source! another goal I have is to stay active and healthy throughout my life.

What would you do even if you didn't get paid?

I already raise 5 kids with no pay so I am not going to add anything else to the list! lol

What are some of your favourite things?

I love eating from the garden, especially peas, strawberries, and raspberries. I love when the stars align and my kids get along. I love food... not complicated food, just really good food. I really like my husband, and the life we have. I love shoes, purses, and coats because they always fit (think 5 pregnancies in 8 years) I love our rusty 78 bronco I drive all summer. I love camping, long baths, and laughing.

Who is someone you admire and why?

I think I am in awe with a lot of people, but mostly people who have endured and experienced a lot in their life. I love listening or reading about peoples life stories. I think the love for this started with my Dad. When I was little he would tell me stories about his life, instead of reading me books at bedtime. Later as a gift to him I wrote out all of the stories he would tell me. I gave it to him for Fathers Day. I think its safe to say I love my Dad because he only worried about others and helped so many in his life time.

What is something people may not know about you?

I hate winter sports. I literally cannot function in the cold!
