What are some of your favorite things?

I love books, food, cocktails, hiking, golfing, and sitting on my deck in the sun.

What are some of your pet peeves?

Slow drivers, slow walkers in crowded spaces (indoors and out), the sound of knuckles cracking, and anything to do with cold weather.

Who is someone you admire and why?

Gabor Maté, an MD and author, changed how I think about people, their lives and their lived experiences. I’ve bought and re-bought his book In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts about 8 times because I keep giving my copies away. This is the that book that piqued my interest in the brain and how it works. Now I have approximately 30 neuroscience/neurology books in my home library. Fascinating stuff!

Someone I actually know who I admire is my husband, Randy. He’s one of the smartest people I know and also one of the hardest working people alive! He can, and does, all of our home maintenance and renovations. I merely mention something I want done and he is actively figuring our how and when to do it. My life would likely fall apart if he wasn’t there. Side note: he is also our Prim handyman.

Words to live by

When it comes to relationships, events, or obligations, don’t waste your time on should. Simply because you were taught you should doesn’t mean you have to. Be choosy with your time and energy.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

I think my biggest accomplishment, personally, is having a successful home life. By successful, I mean all my kids are grown, thriving and transitioning to the next chapters of their lives with their significant others, moving out on their own and moving to new cities.  My husband and I try to spend as much time as possible with them in Calgary, Lethbridge and Vancouver.
