What are you complimented the most on in your work?

I always felt like I was a bit of a bossy person when I was confident in what I was doing. But lately I get compliments on being efficient and getting things done. I don’t like to beat around the bush and I pride myself on being an effective person at work. I’m also brutally honest and love TMI (too much info). Keeping things fun at work and being connected to your colleagues is my jam for sure.

What are you passionate about professionally? Personally?

I am most passionate about my family and friends. My kids are super busy and I love to watch them evolve into the little humans they are becoming. I have two boys age 9 and 7. I grew up a hockey sister and now I’m a hockey mom. I am very proud of the little family and life my husband and I have built. I love my friends too. I try to keep in touch because it’s too easy to let friendships go when life gets busy. I will routinely go through my txt and see who I haven’t connected with in a while and reach out. I love to travel and have a good time, that is way up there on my list of passions!

How long have you been working in your field?

I went into nursing school right out of high school because I didn’t know what to do and my English teacher said I would make a good nurse, so that’s what I did! I picked nursing because I love the freedom it provides too. It’s a stable job, you can work anywhere in world and if you get tired of one area you move on to something different. After I graduated with my RN BScN in 2004 I moved to California for 2 years and worked on medical/surgical units doing 12hr night shifts. It was a blast. Young nurses from all over the US and Canada were doing the same thing and we had a great crew. For the last 10 yrs I have been working in Day Procedures doing Endoscopy. I love to be the one there keeping patients comfortable when they are in a vulnerable state and gaining their trust in a very short period of time.

Why injecting?

Prior to my time in Day Procedures I worked at a dental office doing IV sedation and recovery. The dentist bought a IPL machine and the nurses operated it. I did IPL, hair removal and chemical peels. I loved it. Even though I haven’t worked there for some time, people still ask me for advice on their skin. I find it rewarding to help someone feel better about themselves and be more confident. I got into injecting because I wanted to be a part of an industry that would allow me to grow. I wanted to be part of a team that is passionate about helping people achieve their aesthetic goals while still looking natural and preserving their unique features.

What else do I like?

It’s hard for moms to have hobbies but I like to golf and hike. I’ve been meaning to get into painting, I used to love art. I like to renovate my house too. My dad is a carpenter and he does lots for me, but we renovated a bathroom together and he bought me an air nailer for Christmas! A perfect night for me would be watching a movie with my husband with a glass of wine and a bag of mini eggs.
